Aleisha Smith, Associate Registered Nutritionist and founder of Panel & Plate

I built Panel & Plate because I kept seeing the same gap.

Someone starts a GLP-1 medication, gets a leaflet about potential side effects, and is often left to figure out the rest themselves. How should they eat? What should they prioritise? How much protein do they actually need? What about exercise? And what happens when the side effects make eating feel difficult?

It’s not that GPs don’t care. They simply don’t have the time in a standard appointment to cover all of this in the depth it deserves.

And trying to find the answers yourself isn’t exactly easy either. There’s an overwhelming amount of nutrition advice online, and social media is full of confident-sounding opinions that seem to contradict each other from one day to the next.

Private nutrition support can be incredibly valuable, but with GLP-1 medications already being a significant expense, adding hundreds of dollars a month for one-on-one support simply isn’t realistic for everyone.

That’s where Panel & Plate comes in.

I created Panel & Plate to provide affordable, trustworthy and practical nutrition support specifically for people taking GLP-1 medications.

Not generic nutrition advice repackaged for GLP-1s. Not complicated information you need a nutrition degree to understand. And not another collection of opinions from social media.

Just practical, evidence-informed resources designed to help you navigate food, movement and the changes that come with taking these medications.

Why I built this

I want to make the best possible impact I can on people’s health.

Ultimately, I built Panel & Plate because I want to make the best possible impact I can on people's health. And if you've invested in medication to improve your health, I want you to feel like you have the support and information to make the most of it.

I want you to:

01

Feel confident that the nutrition information you're following is trustworthy and easy to understand.

02

Know how to support your body while taking your medication.

03

Have practical strategies to manage the challenges and side effects that can come with treatment.

04

Build lifestyle habits that feel sustainable rather than temporary.

05

Protect your muscle, strength and overall health while losing weight.

06

Have the knowledge and tools to maintain your progress long after the weight comes off.

A little bit about me

When I'm not working on Panel & Plate

When I'm not working on Panel & Plate, I'm usually outside somewhere. I love hiking, hunting, swimming and running — basically anything that gets me outdoors and moving. I also enjoy learning about business through podcasts and reading, and I run my own activewear business, Kaki Activewear.

I'm a quiet person by nature. I tend to connect with people by listening rather than talking, which is probably part of the reason this whole project started in the first place.

I naturally notice problems.

And rather than announcing that someone should fix them, I have a habit of quietly thinking, “Surely there’s a better way to do this.” Then, more often than not, I end up trying to create it myself.

Panel & Plate is one of those things.

I hope it makes navigating your GLP-1 journey a little clearer, a little easier, and a lot less overwhelming.
